The 2024 Drift was one of bests, firsts and records. We can’t say enough about the weather. Sun and blue skies covered the course all three days making this the best weather year we have ever had. Be prepared for 2025, we are unlikely to see that two years in a row.

If you missed out on the fun take a look at race photos from Jana.

The Drift 13 saw 5/6 records broken this weekend. In three races, the entire podium beat the previous mark. The Drift 28 had new records in the men’s run and women’s bike.
The Drift 100 saw one course record fall, but saw alot of firsts. Each racer on the overall podium this year raised the bar. Shalane Frost, overall first place, is the first skier and female to win The Drift 100 overall. Fourteen year old Edyn Teitge, second overall and first place biker, is the youngest racer to ever finish (or win) The Drift 100. Third place finisher, first female biker Ginny Robbins is the first racer to complete The Drift 100 by all three modes, foot, bike and ski, did we mention she won each division as well.

After a grueling 55 hours on the course Simone Valentin Austin, became the first to finish The Drift 100 after completing The Order of the Hrimthurs (A finish from Actif Epica 160K, Tuscobia 160 mile and Arrowhead 135 mile finishes in one season). This makes for nearly 500 miles of winter racing in ten weeks.

Volunteers… we can’t say enough. We had a total of 40 people out this weekend between all three races. This includes course patrol, aid station volunteers and start and finish line volunteers. This does not include all the people that helped leading up to the race including race prep, swag editing, babysitting, course setup, bin sorting, food buying and even babysitting.  Multiple local groups support our race as well Lineshack Lodge, Bridger-Teton National Forest, Wilderness Church, Friends of Bridger-Teton National Forest, Sublette County Chamber of Commerce, Bucky’s, Union Pass Rentals, Wyoming State Trails and of course Kendall Valley Lodge, Sweetwater Snowpokes and Rocky Mountain Power Sports who are the backbone of racer support.  These races take a village. Consider joining the party next year.

Travis VanZuiden, Jarrid Huckfeldt, Austin Huckfeldt and Darren Hull unload the trailer on Monday morning.

Steve Rideout, volunteer and 28 mile racer, watches 100 mile racers from Kendall Valley Lodge.
