Welcome to Wyoming

The Drift is a winter race in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming, the largest mountain range in the state. Racers may ski, bike, or run on the snow-covered trail. There are 13-mile 28-mile, and a 100-mile (the highest-elevation winter ultramarathon in the United States) courses. This recreation event is authorized under a Special Use Permit with the Bridger-Teton National Forest and the Shoshone National Forest.

Travel/Lodging

Pinedale, Wyoming is the closest town to the race course(s), around 25 miles away. Pinedale is 78 miles south of Jackson and 100 miles north of Rock Springs, where the closest airports are also located. Racers may choose to fly into Salt Lake City (4 hours away) or Idaho Falls (3 hours away) for more reasonable rates.

Kendall Valley Lodge is the closest lodging, located just 1/4 mile away from the race’s start/finish lines, but has limited rooms available.

Lakeside Lodge is the location of The Drift 100 prerace meeting, dinner and music with Rooster.

Local Shops

Check out Pinedale’s downtown for shopping and dinner. Our town is small, plan on having what you need when you arrive. Our gear shops are great, but if they don’t have it the next shops are nearly 100 miles away.
