the whole shebang. the start of it all. the best in the west.
The Continental Divide spans over 140 miles along the entire spine of Wyoming’s Wind River Range, which is the largest mountain range in the state. The Wind Rivers boast 19 of Wyoming’s 20 highest peaks, over 180 active glaciers (including the largest glaciers in the Rockies), and over 3,000 pristine alpine lakes within its half-million acres of Federally-designated Wilderness. Pinedale is Wyoming’s first Continental Divide Trail Gateway Community. Check out the video to see how we throw down!
Each July, the Wind River Mountain Festival celebrates this area which is classified as one of the most intact, undisturbed wild natural areas left on our planet. Join us as we celebrate the Continental Divide Trail, the Wind River Range, and the outdoor lifestyle in a way that only a small, mountain-west town can-with live music, educational clinics, an adventure race or two, craft beer, raffles, demos, slideshows, and more. The Drift and its sister race, the Surly Pika, are both Wind River Mountain Festival events.
